Coming for Therapy
Therapy can be a meaningful and life-changing process, but at times may be difficult and challenging, which calls for some commitment and courage.
Whatever the reason that has led you to search for a therapist, I can offer you a confidential space where we can explore and reflect upon the challenges you are facing together and help to make sense of the feelings you may be experiencing in a safe and welcoming environment.
The most important aspect for a successful therapy outcome is the relationship between the client and the therapist itself. It is therefore advisable that you make an appointment for an initial face-to face consultation and pay attention to how you feel with me or any other therapist and if you have a sense that you can develop a trusting relationship with me over time.
I understand that entering therapy for the first time can feel daunting, which is why I create a safe, empathetic environment for counselling based on mutual trust and confidentiality. Your first appointment is an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have. I will reflect on what you have said, find out what you would like to achieve and help you find a greater sense of balance and contentment in your life. I hope to dispel the fear that meaningful change is impossible and together we can explore new ways for you to relate to yourself and to others.
We will work together to:
-explore current beliefs about yourself, others and the situations in which you find yourself
-look at the ways you currently behave as a result of those beliefs
-put new thoughts, ideas and ways of responding into practice
Therapy is about you. There is no right way to do it. It is exactly what it is.
No one sees what you see, even if they see it too.
